Another from my recent trip to the Pinnacles in the Nambung National Park Western Australia. The National Park is littered by these structures - with many standing separate from the others. A bit like life doing wide-field astrophotography - lots of late nights typically by myself or at most very few. In this instance (like most of my shoots) was by myself - and was able to do several technique tests including my light pollution filter (not in any of these images). This was a specific test of moon luminosity - taken just 5-10 minutes before moon dawn at 50% luminosity. Moon luminosity at the horizon tends to have lower brightness (just like a sunrise). Shortly after this, the sky started to go blue with the same settings - so I would have probably reduced the ISO to 3200. As the moon rises, the milky way would have been blown out by the moon. It does start to look darker at this time as the eyes adjust to the sky getting slightly brighter. With the moon rise - just like pre-dawn - there is a little bit of airglow that occurs, but not much compared to the sun. Not too happy with the pre-moon light - it's pretty flat. My preferred lighting is crescent moon lighting, that may be hard light, but adds more shadows and textures. This is the "normal" archway milkyway mosaic/panorama - using 26 images in the image. I've discussed a few different types of mosaics/panoramas that I've been using on my blog here - http://ift.tt/1q7DRuN
Landscape comprises the visible features of an area of land, including the physical elements of landforms such as (ice-capped) mountains, hills, water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds and the sea, living elements of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including different forms of land use, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.
Combining both their physical origins and the cultural overlay of human presence, often created over millennia, landscapes reflect the living synthesis of people and place vital to local and national identity. Landscapes, their character and quality, help define the self-image of a region, its sense of place that differentiates it from other regions. It is the dynamic backdrop to people’s lives.
The Earth has a vast range of landscapes including the icy landscapes of polar regions, mountainous landscapes, vast arid desert landscapes, islands and coastal landscapes, densely forested or wooded landscapes including past boreal forests and tropical rainforests, and agricultural landscapes of temperate and tropical regions.
Landscape may be further reviewed under the following specific categories: landscape art, cultural landscape, landscape ecology, landscape planning, landscape assessment and landscape design. The activity that modifies the visible features of an area of land is named Landscaping.
