Stairway to heaven | Photo Lanscape Dunia

Please view on black. This is the milky way above the Mont-Blanc and its glaciers. It's a very special picture for me since I dreamed of of since since 3 years when I discovered this point of view with this cruved glacier below Mont-Blanc. 5h of hiking/climbing and 1000m denivelation were necessary to get there. I almost didn't sleep at all on the evening and got up at 0:30 am for shooting. Hopefully the weather was with me with a beautiful starry night and just some clouds on the Mont-Blanc. I will remember that night for a long time. Technically speaking, this is a composite of 6 frames. 2 identical frames with 2 different exposures (40s for the ground and 13s for teh sky) were blended together and the resulting image was stitched with 5 other frames exposed at 13s to get the vertical panorama. Every day I work at educating myself more and more in the photography world, whether it be in field or post processing. Here is my first attempt using luminosity masking to process an image. After a few slight tweaks to the RAW file, I brought it into Photoshop and completed the image. Working with threshold and curves to establish the correct white balance then onto luminosity channels / masking to work the lights, midtones, and darks. Let me know what you think, I would love feedback whether it be positive or negative.

Selfoss | Photo Lanscape Dunia

Just upriver from Dettifoss lies the lesser known falls—Selfoss. The walk up to this point is absolutely incredible with walls of falls the entire way up. From what I hear, many people don't even venture the short hike up river which is hard to believe. This whole area is like walking on another planet. This particular shot was made at midnight in incredibly windy, cold conditions. I literally had to block with wind with my body while holding the tripod down with my body weight right on the edge of the falls. Luckily, this was one of the few sharper shots. I like the warm sunlight on the falls and the rocky edge with the reflective pool. If the conditions wouldn't have been so brutal I could've spent hours here with the falls, rocks and reflective pools all around. I love planned photo missions.. I have Google stalked this place over and over to get my exact spot I also use a program called The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) to plan the suns location height and setting time. I finally had the chance to make the short road trip to the farm for sunset last night and am really happy with the result. This is a focus stacked image with 5 shots at the same exposure setting just at different focus points throughout the frame to get maximum focus and detail. I did not blend the sky this time i used my Lee GND filter 0.6 + 0.9 stacked to get the nice dark and detailed sky.

Twilight glow and wild thyme (Blóðberg) wildflowers at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southeastern Iceland. This is an image from my trip to Iceland last summer. We visited many different places on the island, and Jökulsárlón was one of my favorite areas. It's definitely one of those places where you just have to stand still for a few minutes and soak it all in. If you ever have a chance to visit, make sure you do one of the Zodiac boat tours. It is amazing to see those icebergs up close. Thanks for any comments you have. I really appreciate it Visit My Website/Blog Follow me on Google+ Follow me on Twitter

Landscape comprises the visible features of an area of land, including the physical elements of landforms such as (ice-capped) mountains, hills, water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds and the sea, living elements of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including different forms of land use, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.

Combining both their physical origins and the cultural overlay of human presence, often created over millennia, landscapes reflect the living synthesis of people and place vital to local and national identity. Landscapes, their character and quality, help define the self-image of a region, its sense of place that differentiates it from other regions. It is the dynamic backdrop to people’s lives.

The Earth has a vast range of landscapes including the icy landscapes of polar regions, mountainous landscapes, vast arid desert landscapes, islands and coastal landscapes, densely forested or wooded landscapes including past boreal forests and tropical rainforests, and agricultural landscapes of temperate and tropical regions.
